Report from the Millennium Gloucester hotel, London, England

by Karl Hipp

The four of us spent the entire day Wednesday atop double deck open-air
buses touring all of downtown London. An all-day bus ticket lets you get on and off any of the hundreds of London buses for a 24 hour period, starting from the date/time stamped on your ticket/receipt.  The weather was unseasonably warm and comfortable, as you can see from the pictures.

London Tower Bridge.  Anchored to the right is a British Naval vessel, obviously the HMS "something." It was the first allied ship to fire a shot at Normandy on June 6, 1944, and is now a Naval Museum on the river Thames.

Anti-war protesters at Parliament Square.  It's kind of quiet now, since the war is over.

Parliament Square monuments were covered for protection from the anti-war protesters.

House of the Lord Mayor of London, the residence of the father of one of our own; ICS member, Peter Fox.

Gates at Buckingham Palace.  Judy wanted a picture of these so I can build a set for our driveway in Colorado.

After a full day of covering London town, we treated ourselves to dinner last night at a Texas steak house since the Indian food the night before was so lousy.  But tonight it's going to be Chinese, say Judy and Barbara.

Meanwhile, today, John and Barb have gone to the Savoy for "High Tea".  Judy and I will rest and line up tube and rail tickets for tomorrow morning to go to
Wokingham.  The Buttles will meet us there and transport us to Blackbushe. Then, it'll be off to Macon, France.
